RAUUUUUUUUUL

The two clutch HR performance by Yul Brynner, erm, I mean, Raul Ibanez tonight in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Orioles should rank up there with Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series and Reggie Jackson’s 3 homer game in the ’77 Series as one of the greatest individual performances by a Yankee in the postseason… EVER. I seriously can’t even believe that just happened. Check out the epic game-tying and game-winning jacks.

Unfortunately, Raul is currently one of only three guys in the Yankees’ lineup who can currently hit worth a shit, so if he wants to win another playoff game this year, I’d recommend Joe Girardi make a few changes to his lineup tomorrow.

1. Derek Jeter

2. Raul Ibanez

3. Raul Ibanez

4. Raul Ibanez

5. Raul Ibanez

6. Raul Ibanez

7. Raul Ibanez

8. Raul Ibanez

9. Russell Martin

And just to make sure A-Rod doesn’t come anywhere near the batter’s box to flail around like a drunken six year old trying to bash in a pinata, trade him to NASA for the Mars rover and have him sent to the moon immediately.

Go Yankees!

Ibanez did this with regularity for the three years he wore Phillies red.
He and Carlos Ruiz were the Phils’ most feared clutch hitters- Utley and Howard notwithstanding. Coincidentally, Raul’s best post-season performance was in the ’09 Series against these same hated Yankees. No wonder they jumped at the chance to sign him. When he departed Philly I wept. Look at them now…pathetic!
